If the Canadian Football League season is a go in 2021 it will kick off with a 2019 Grey Cup rematch between the Blue Bombers and Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Winnipeg on June 10.
The Bombers beat the Tiger-Cats 33-12 in the last CFL game played, on Nov. 24, 2019 in Calgary.
The 2020 season was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The league is hopeful about making a season happen in 2021, although there are many variables in play, including the availability of a vaccine and the league’s willingness to stage games without fans in the stands.
The CFL released its 2021 schedule Friday, during what would have been 2020 Grey Cup Week in Regina.
The defending champion Blue Bombers are slated to play a pair of pre-season games, against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, in Winnipeg on May 28 and in Regina on June 4.
After opening against Hamilton, the Bombers are scheduled to travel to Montreal to face the Alouettes on June 17, then return home to play the Edmonton Eskimos on June 25.
