Two starting college quarterbacks highlight the list of players on the Winnipeg Blue Bomber negotiation list.
Ian Book, the starter at Notre Dame, and Brock Purdy of Iowa State are among the 10 players on the list revealed today.
Book passed for 3,034 yards and 34 touchdowns, with just six interceptions, for the Fight Irish last season.
The 6-foot-0, 206-pounder is 22-3 as the starter since taking over the offence in 2018, including a 2-0 start this season, his final year of eligibility.
Purdy passed for 3,982 yards and 27 touchdowns, with nine interceptions, while setting 18 school records for the Cyclone last season, his sophomore year.
He’s 6-foot-1, 212 pounds.
The Bombers’ list includes a third quarterback, Charlie Brewer of Baylor, and Blake Jackson, a wide receiver/quarterback at Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Two defensive ends are on the list, including John Daka, a product of Zambia attending James Madison University.
The two defensive backs include Deatrick Nichols, who left South Florida to play in the XFL.
A pair of offensive linemen round out Winnipeg’s list of 10.
Twice a year, CFL teams release the names of 10 players from a 45-player list that used to be entirely confidential, in an effort to generate some publicity.
Names on Winnipeg’s lists in the past included receiver/returner Lucky Whitehead and return specialist Janarion Grant.
