Black History Month 2021

February 2nd, 2021

In many ways, our history can help shape the present and inspire the future. During this black history month, we will highlight many of our former and current members who have helped shape and contribute to this great game that so many love and watch. From barrier- breaking players to record-setting athletes, come and journey with the CFLPA as we highlight many of these great athletes and their contributions.

Early this month, we will use our social accounts and website to honour great accomplishments by former and influential CFLPA members including Herb Trawick – the league’s first Black player, George Reed – one of the greatest players in CFL history and the first black president of the CFLPA, the great Chuck Ealey, and Hall of Fame QB Warren Moon.

Later on, we will celebrate former CFLPA members, including Orlondo Steinauer, Micheal “Pinball” Clemons, Marcus Brady and Henry Burris who are making successful and exciting transitions to professional coaching and beyond. Towards the end of the month, we will showcase current player representatives and executives who are impacting change, and finally share important work and contributions by current black CFLPA members.

I hope you join us for this month-long commemoration, and celebration, of Black History month in Canadian football.

Solomon Elimimian

CFLPA President
